How To Choose Your Target Keywords

Monday, October 6th, 2008

How do you figure out your target keywords for your search engine marketing campaign? First you need to put together a list of the products you sell, services you offer, and any other keywords that represent what your website offers. Once you have that list, you need to use some tools to do proper keyword research. There is no purpose in targeting keywords that people are not searching for, because the search engine rankings will not turn into traffic. I personally like to use the Google Keyword Suggestion tool and the Google Traffic Estimator tool. Please those two tools, I am able to map out the target keywords for my client, and then estimate the traffic from Google, as well as the other major search engines, including Yahoo and MSN, based upon their market share compared to Google.

Seth Rand, the Search Engine Marketing Expert at Icon Website Design, follows the above procedure for every search engine marketing client of his, whether it be for a search engine optimization project or a pay per click marketing project. The ups and downs of Google

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Just two months ago, Google’s stock was down 45% percent, and Yahoo and MSN appeared ready to combine forces, but as it stands today Google’s stock is hot and Microsoft has decided to stop trying to purchase Yahoo.

AOL and MySpace interested in buying Yahoo

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Yahoo Inc., resisting a $44.6 billion takeover by Microsoft Corp., which runs MSN.com, may wring a higher offer out of the software maker after finding an alternate suitor in Time Warner Inc.’s AOL unit.

A new partner may help CEO Jerry Yang turn around investor confidence in Yahoo. Less than a week ago, his options appeared limited after Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer threatened to cut his bid if the board refused to give in. With AOL in the fray, a better price is possible, and The New York Times said Thursday that News Corp. may join Microsoft’s offer.

“Microsoft, if it wants to stay in the game, is going to have to increase its bid,” Larry Haverty, associate portfolio manager at Gamco Investors Inc., said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. “Yahoo is a strategic necessity for Microsoft.”

Haverty said $35 a share is a fair value for Yahoo. His firm managed about $31 billion in assets as of Dec. 31, including shares of Microsoft and Yahoo.

If Microsoft teams with Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., the transaction would unite Microsoft’s MSN, Yahoo and News Corp.’s MySpace, the Times said. Microsoft’s original bid is $31 a share.

Search engine optimization, what a wonderful gift!

Monday, October 29th, 2007

The truth is, if your website, preferably a custom-designed website and not some  website template, and that website has been optimized that is search engine optimized to maximize your exposure on Internet.  It is generally a very wonderful gift. It’s been said many times in the past that the best things in life are free.  Such goes for search engine optimization. I’ll be the first to admit that it’s not the end-all be-all and chances are you still do no one to your fair share of paper click advertising.  But what it does do, is it brings down your costs per acquisition. What I mean by this is let’s say you’re spending three dollars per click on paper click advertising with either Google Yahoo or MSN. And then you’re able to do some search engine optimization which it then also gives gives you an additional 250 to 500 hits a day more on your website. Then, what ends up happening is you end up actually reducing the cost per click on all your advertising. There are some websites that I have that all they have is search engine optimization done to them and as a result of that we still get a tremendous amount inbound calls as well our fair share of online purchases.

Another thing that you want to think about doing is probably running some banners on some websites that have a tremendous amount inbound traffic.

This are also some very good free online business directories. I will list a few of them did.  But I know that don’t charge anything whatsoever for you to list yourselves on their business directories.

Here is the statement of the day. Stop talking about it and just do it.

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

I can’t tell you how many different people I run into on a regular basis.  Tell me they’ve thought about doing search engine optimization to their website, and so have not done anything about it.

To me this whole thing is a no-brainer. I would never sit here and tell you that search engine optimization is the single and only thing to you to do to promote your website to such a way that you could create the cells that you’re intending to do on a day-to-day week to week month-to-month basis. But here’s what I will tell you. I don’t care if you’re using Google ad-words, some type of paper click advertising with inside Yahoo or MSN.  Search engine optimization is the only form of Internet marketing medium that is so cost-effective that if you don’t do it is just plain crazy.

The reason I’m so adamant about search engine optimization is because it offsets all of your other expenses for Internet marketing. Sometimes I’m a client to spending some one areas of upwards to $50,000 a month and pay per click advertising. Not would never tell anybody that they should pull their complete paper click campaign, and only do search engine optimization. I personally don’t believe that my belief is that you can offset your pay per click advertising by thousands of dollars a month.  If you can work with, they quality search engine optimization company. Most companies that I know that do search engine optimization will also manage your pay per click campaign as well. This is important to me because I think that if you can have somebody cut every and all out of your pay per click campaign.  It’ll give you more marketing dollars to push into different directions.  Most of these highly decorated search engine optimization firms can not only optimize your website at the level of organic traffic, but they can also do search engine optimization to the various different search engines.

They will also create an internal site map that will have the spiders crawl your website in a much deeper capacity than they ever have before. This way of your website with interior pages, exceeding thousands and thousands of pages they can actually create this site map floor of the search engine’s will penetrat your site in a much deeper capacity.

The other thing that I suggest people to invest in is a good affiliate marketing program.  There are very is different affiliate marketing programs. One of these programs is known as www.commissionjunction.com we have use commission Junction for various different clients of Mars in the past. The good thing about commission Junction is there actually affiliate what major corporations around the country such as Wal-Mart, Home Depot, target, Disney, and many more.  Fortune 100 companies.

The best thing I knew tell you is stop talking about doing search engine optimization.  Stop talking about doing Internet marketing.  Stop talking about doing paper click advertising.  And start finding companies that can help you create an effective marketing campaign.  So you and your website can start doing the business that the rest of these companies are doing throughout the home to your. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out if somebody spending 50 oh hundred thousand dollars a month on pay per click advertising.  And they’re doing this month after month, they must you making some money. So why not, claim your pieces of the pie and cash in on this Internet boom. The truth is the Internet and the amount of revenue streaming into it isn’t going anywhere. The projections for online sales for this holiday season is guaranteed to be through the roof.

Where do you stand on search engine optimization?

Friday, October 19th, 2007

There is definitely two opposing sides to this particular question.

1.) I would say that the first part of the Yang and Yang. Is what I’ll refer to as the force. Sort of like Star Wars. Many people don’t see Star Wars as a spiritual type of movie, but to me it is.  We think about the Jedi is there basically everything that would be in harmony in the world. They are the good, they are the worthy, they are the righteous, they are the happy, they are the light.

Well, here’s the thing about search engine of the visitation. There is what they call white hat.  These are people that the lack of a better word are part of the force. These are people and operate with inside the fields of search engine optimization.  But then not doing it with a malicious or hurtful intent. They are instead playing by the rules. This is saying that’s been used for many years now, what comes around goes around. What I found is long as you play by the rules and you try to help your clients to the best your ability than search engine optimization can be a very profitable feel to be in.

2.) This is my take however on the black side of the Yang. Or, what we can refer to as the dark side. What most people in the SCO field refer to it as is black hat techniques. Solid give you a quick rundown of my experiences been with people that are doing things to trick the search engines. Awhile back I had seen their website that had a flash intro on a what what I saw to be virtually no text whatsoever. Now, first I couldn’t figure this out why they were coming up with so many different terms.  In so many different cities and states with which seemed to me to be a blank flash intro. As I researched the page a little more what I found was.  There was probably a over 4000 terms going down on tire front of the page. But what they did was they put all the text in white against a white background. This obviously would have a look like there was absolutely no text on on tire page unless you want with your highlighter down all on tire page then you would see all of the text show up.  So to make a long story short, within four months this website was completely wiped out of the search engines. It’s real simple play nice, or suffer the consequences of your actions.

This so many different things that you can do the legitimate ways to promote your website online. There are things to do like creating an affiliate marketing programs. You can create an account with Google ad words. You can do pay per click campaigns Yahoo optimization and MSN optimization.

In my opinion, keep it simple to the right things and good things will come back to you. Ultimately, no matter who we are what we do.  I find that you definitely reap what you sow.

Take your people and they’ll take care you. There’s a saying that’s says that all the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of one match. Do good in be good, that’s it for now…

Is that they need to realize about search engine optimization.  A lot of what you’re going to do.  In regards to theories and marketing campaigns is to some extent, can I be determined by trial and error. Because this is such a new industry there’s only so much that you can learn from reading various different books and tuning into various different blogs. One of the blogs that I will be referring to is known as www.seochat.com this particular website is a tremendous resource with probably tens of thousands of difference oracles.  All referring to search engine optimization, and I believe various different paper quick campaigns such as Google ad words, Yahoo optimization, and MSN optimization. What I mean about the optimization of the different search engines I believe that they will give you some different ideas.  As far as things that you can do that will help you to create the effect of Ed copies to make sure that you get to the top of the search engines we need you pay per click campaigns.

Another great resource for you is the book, search engine optimization for dummies. This book is very valuable book is a multi-you some pitfalls to watch out for and some tricks of the trade.  Like everything in life there  is only one way to find out next to dive into it.

Look at it this way, the more you research and read about search engine optimization, the more you going to know the things to do and the things not to. Tricks that are white hat search engine optimization and things that are black hat or otherwise known as no-no’s

Here are some great search engine optimization tools.

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

One of the things that you want to use at the level digging out appropriate keywords for your search engine optimization efforts is what’s known as a keyword selector tool. There are various different ones that I will talk about today. In actuality it is really only two that I want to speak about.

1.)  One of them will tell speak about first is a free service brought to you by overture. I will place the link below and go over to low but with you.

http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

this is a very good and simple tool that allow you to figure out what people are actually searching for in the various different product you’re looking to sell. You’d be surprised how many times you think something is a great idea, but then after doing a search on you find out that it’s not being searched nearly as much as you think it is. The thing I like about the overture tool the most is that it’s free. This saying the best things in life are free. That’s what I like to overture tools much as I do. We should probably do is to click on the link above and just go there and seen a couple key words and you make your own decision on how much you like it or not.

2.) The other to allow speak a little bit about tonight is called www.wordtracker.com

what’s cool about this particular program is from what I understand it uses various different search engines to compile its information on basic search results. Everything that I I’ve learned up until now suggests that Google is the number one search portals on the world. This is obvious, but the next question is by how much of it in the number one position. From what I understand out of 10 searches that are being done online.  Roughly 7 of those people are searching through Google search. I say Google search now because Google’s offers so many different products-I just would single out the one were speaking about.

As a rule of thumb one I’m using the overture tool.  I basically take the numbers and triple in to get an idea of how many people actually searching for this particular keyword on Google.

The other thing that I like about Word tracker tool is it allows you to dig down within side of various different searches. This way you can figure out you’re a one in two and three word keywords.  And find out what my the most important or relevant to your Edwards campaign or search engine optimization campaign. I am a different philosophy and most people into search engine optimization. In my opinion, many people fight over the main search terms.  In any given industry. What I usually do is come and make a left on what everybody else is making a right turn.

Is what I mean by that. If everybody’s looking to do one word and two word phrases and I go after the three and four word phrases. I also go after these words on a state-by-state and city by city bases. My thinking is that most people when they do search the looking for people locally.

I’ll give you a for instance of what I’m talking about - let’s say for argument’s sake that you wanted to optimize a printing and graphics company. Rather than doing search engine optimization on a global keywords such as full color printing. Why not do something like florida  color printing, texas color printing. When you think about it from the standpoint you have 50 states, and then you have thousands of cities within those states. Those numbers will obviously be a lot harder when you add them all together versus full color printing. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out not only will more overall searches in these particular areas as it will also be a heck of a lot less competitive.

Website suicide - five thing, you definitely don’t want to do at the level of search engine optimization on your website

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

1.) If you have an existing website and its navigation system is using frames.  Get rid of it now. A frame website is probably one of the single worst a website designs for search engine optimization. One of the problems with using a frame-based website is the search engine itself cannot determine how many different pages there ought to the actual website. Essentially what Hamza is the spiders come to the website and they just think that the website is one page 1 page only. So if you are utilizing frames on your website right now, get rid of it now.

2.) A not a big no-no is to use a lot of JavaScript on your website. JavaScript is another thing that does search engines just don’t know what to do with it. What ends up happening is a can’t read a navigation system methods done in JavaScript.  So all those additional inner pages are completely nonexistent.  The search engine scanning and read its like they’re not even there. If you are navigational system is using JavaScript you going to need to do some different techniques so the search engines can actually see the JavaScript.  I will get into this at a later date.

3.) Another thing that a lot of people have set up on their website and I know about it is a domain redirector. This is when you actually type in a specific URL, and when you actually get there and actually redirects into another URL. I remember working on a friend of mine site, and when I went to assign typed in the actual name of his website.  It was redirecting to an inner page with inside his website. It’s funny because the initial name of the website had a page ranking rating from Google of the three or a four way you could never hit that drew the actual typing in of his URL.

4.) Avoid the sandbox at all costs. Some people do all the initial work to create search engine optimization, then looked on a doing is putting like thousands of links to the site before Google has even done and a growing whatsoever on a brand-new URL. How I know what happens when you do this, because unfortunately I made a mistake myself of doing this once. The new URL was shown up absolutely nowhere within the search engine’s. At first I was really excited because the site launched itself would, like, I think 32,000 inbound links. And all end up doing was to so on Google and hands up waiting another seven months to see my site show up anywhere and at any of the key words.

5.) Duplicate text - make sure that your site does not have any duplicate text on any of the pages. Duplicate text is a very big no-no at the level of search engines. You end up getting a lot of negative points for attacks that has just been snagged and taken from another website and/or from another area of your website. Not only do the website’s dislike when you take text from another site and put onto your site are also very stringent and copyright laws. One of my existing clients had a web designer take an existing talk and take that book and duplicated onto his website. He ended up to $1 million soon as a result of this. The lawsuit was so bad that they ended up having to take the whole website down and now when you go to his website.  The only thing it’s there is an existing webpage that says is company name. There were actually threatening to shut him down and sue him and almost ended up bankrupting his company. I can’t stress it enough stay away from copyrighted material. If you can’t figure out what to say on your website to hire a copywriter.

As I mentioned to you before, I will give you a company, which I find is a very reparable web design/search engine optimization company. They do everything from small HTML websites to big e-commerce websites and are nothing else describes them better than amazing at the level is search engine optimization. The name of a comp when he is www.iconwebsitedesign.com the telephone number at the company is 954-733-8862 the Seth Rand.

I have referred them a ton of different clients that I was unable to attend to, and they actually have done a superb job on all of them.

They’ve create things like standalone affiliate programs and affiliate marketing programs, search engine optimization for a ton of different clients. I know less client that I sent them wanted some references and they gave them a list of references and customer testimonials.

Even if you have an existing website, though both food and create different things like site maps. Not only will they do search engine optimization to website they will also do pay per click campaigns for various different search engine such as Google, Yahoo and MSN
